They say the best celebrations are the ones that feel like home, where music, color, and laughter collide to create something truly unforgettable. That is exactly what unfolded on the night of May 16th, 2025, when the Rotaract Club of IIT hosted its first-ever edition of Dil Se at DHPL, Colombo.

The phrase Dil Se, meaning “from the heart” in Hindi, was not just a name but the soul of the night. This event was envisioned as a space to bring people together through the richness of South Asian culture while raising funds for future club initiatives. It offered something new and refreshing—a full Bollywood-themed experience that blended culture, community, and celebration.

The venue was brought to life with simple yet thoughtful decorations: Drapes, fairy lights, and vibrant decorations transformed the venue into a space filled with color and character. Attendees embraced the dress code in full desi style, showcasing elegant sarees, lehengas, kurtas, and sherwanis. The visuals were stunning, but it was the shared energy of the crowd that truly set the tone.

The evening began with a high-octane DJ set by Shenal and Uveen, delivering back-to-back music that kept the floor moving all night. Their selection of Bollywood classics and crowd-favorite remixes ensured the dance floor stayed alive. One of the most anticipated highlights was the performance by IIT’s own dance crew, NAACH. Their energy and precision captivated the audience and added a powerful visual element to the night.

The food and beverages elevated the experience even further. The Potio Bakery & Cafe served a variety of crowd-pleasers including chicken kottu, hot dogs, and sausage platters. A mojito stall added a cool and refreshing touch, making the food court as lively as the dance floor.

Behind the lights and music was a deeper purpose. Every ticket sold contributed to the club’s fundraising efforts for its initiatives. This made Dil Se not just a night to remember, but a meaningful one, rooted in the idea that celebrations can create impact.

With over 120 attendees, a dedicated organizing team, and countless unforgettable moments, Dil Se 2025 was a heartfelt conclusion to the Rotaract year. It offered more than entertainment—it was a space for cultural expression, meaningful connection, and shared joy. It reminded everyone present of the power of gathering with purpose, and that when something is done from the heart, it resonates far beyond the moment.
